Halloween Outing at the Park

Happy Halloween everyone!

Recently, a group of foreigners have organized a series of events at a park here in Taichung, especially for their kids and I have begun to participate in a few (now that I have a kid). Most of us are interracial marriages, but the activities are open to anyone that wants to show up.

Mostly it is organized chaos, especially since there are so many kids running around (and all the parents are hoping that 'other' people are watching their kids....haha.

Anyway, there was a Halloween gathering on Saturday and since Taiwan does not have a Halloween (except in a few Westernized schools), we decided to head out and armed with only minimal prep, we faked Halloween costumes like the best of them...

...we had fun and the kids did, too!

Trying to figure out what all the fuss is about.

My hands are dirty!

We stole another friend's Panda hat....

But we had other plans....Right, Captain Sparrow?

Let's get the facial hair right, eh?

There we go (as best as I could do without putting him in a choke hold to keep him still...)

Sage, this is your dagger. Kill well with it...

Now, your bow and arrows and, most importantly, dad's old sunglasses...

Argh, ye mateys!

Nope, the glasses got the axe early on

But now we are ready

Most pirates have their trusty parrot; but Sage has his trusty penguin...for those antarctic adventures...

Ooh, a little more 'cool' time

Holy cow! Someone shot me!

Oh, it was only dad...

Lemme see that...

Dad, come here a minute, will you?

Dang, I missed...

This time....

Drat, missed again.

Thank goodness these are tasty

What do we have here?

Hi

Mom. don't kiss the pirate!

Ooh, now it is time for the pinatta

Afterward madness

In the shuffle

Ok, buddy, we scored some candy; let's go back to our ship...

Some Vids

Hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween!

BOO!

Next year, we will try for this:

Sage, the Garden Gnome

(It will be sure to cause severe psychological trauma later in life, but who cares?)

Some Pre Halloween pics

Here are some recent pics.

Well, "The Snap" happened yesterday. That means the weather changed very quickly from super hot (to me) to super cold (to Jo). Taiwan thus does not really have 4 seasons; just 3: Summer, Super Summer and Winter. So in the beginning pics, you see Sage wearing summery stuff and by the end, he is wearing layers. Such is life in Taiwan.

Anyway, the pics are cute, so enjoy.

Sage, after a hard day of playing..

A little stretch....

A little tickle...

Ok, now is reading time

'read, read, read...'

Well? What do ya want?

This is our first time letting Sage wolf down a banana.

Finger lickin' good

He loves to walk up the slide...who doesn't? (but it is a little difficult with things in his hands - as you can see in the vids below)

We recently expanded our library and left a nook for Sage

I will eventually need more shelves (where did I put them before the 2 extra shelves, I will never know).

Sage loves going up to our 'penthouse' apartment now to see Mocha. His word for Mocha (or dog) is 'da.' Haha, sounds like 'dada' but I don't mind. However, now when we bring him up mom feels the urge to bundle him up. Thank goodness he can still fit into the ultra cute hoody Gramma and Grampa gave him.

Mom seems to be able to catch the 'dumb' look pretty well

Sage is not to happy about that...

A bit cuter now perhaps?

Ah, there we go!

Now it is Dad's turn, but he is too slow. Sage does like his hats now (at least for a few seconds).

This one in the vids is funny...

Sage, eating his banana for the first time by himself

Sage on his slide

He doesn't want to accept that he needs his hands to pull himself up; he would rather keep the magnets he has in his hands with him at all times. Although, he has gotten better at managing this....

Sage, too cute for school
