Happy 3rd Anniversary to us!
It has been 3 years - seems longer - since we agreed to be with each other and start a new life for both of us. We did not really know where we would be at this point, but we are very happy where we are and what we are doing.
Very simply, we went out for a great lunch at our favorite (and ol' Standby) restaurant here and ate til be burst. We brought Sage along with us, which lessened the romance of the mood, but we figure he should come out as well (maybe when he is older, we will splurge on a babysitter). Course that left little time for a picture, so alas, no pic for blog.
Anyway, things are well and we are looking forward to a good Chinese New Year, which is just around the corner.

This is a blog about the adventures of Jeff, Jo, Sage and Mocha! (OK, I admit currently this is basically just a blog about Sage, but no one is complaining, so that is fine by us!)

Drooping, Pooping, and Poohing
It has been a hectic few weeks recently and it does not seem that we returned to Taiwan from a great vacation over Xmas only 3 weeks ago.
For starters, we got a new car (will post about that later) and I got a new good part time gig working at Tung Hai University High School (will explain later).
Plus, Sage has been eating solid foods recently (as you know) and just turned 7 months old. Gramma just had her birthday and turned a few months older as well.
Happy Birthday Gramma!
Anyway, here are some recent pics and vids that you may enjoy.

We have been trying to let Sage sit on his own (with pillows when not on our water bed) and he is getting better at maintaining his balance. Here he just lasted for about 10 seconds...
Onto eating. He is doing pretty well and not that picky at all, course he does have his favorites (bananas, radish, broccoli, and sweet potatoes). But he absolutely loves his cookies (crackers really since they are not sweet) since they are easy to hold and melt in his mouth. To me they taste like cardboard, but he does enjoy it!

After eating so much, he still has to get used to getting it all out. Here is his 'poop' face when he is working his butt muscles hard...
After that is a little Pooh-time. Yeah!
Who's coming?
Yeah! Pooh!
Gimme that ear!
Nom Nom Nom...
Better than the cookie!
Oh yeah!
Here Sage is giving Pooh a zerbert...musta learned that from me...
Ok, let's get ready for bed and bath!
Bye!

More Adventures in Feeding
Jo, Sage and I are learning more about food these days. They say you are what you eat and while I agree with that, I am unsure. However, I am dead sure about what goes in comes out, since we see this first hand everyday.
Course, we have to get the food 'in' for it to come 'out' so that is the challenge. Yet, then again, Sage is turning out to be a pretty good eater (I have heard horror stories from other parents) and we are happy indeed about that.
Let's see, we have tried carrots, congee, bananas, sweet potatoes, rice milk, and small melty snacks for kids (similar to rice puffs). We also add in nutritional supplements to make sure he will be as big as dad (or bigger), much to mom's worry. His favorites so far seems to be the bananas and sweet potatoes, so we have to hustle with those since he often looks like a little bird with a wide open mouth waiting for the mother bird's meal.
Anyway, here are some recent pics of our progress...

We have learned that distraction works well and since he likes the big can that holds his treats, we can let him play with that (and not worry about it getting dirty) and sometimes slip in spoonfulls of goodness...
The little bird is happy
Yum!
He is concentrated so we can....
..slip in some food
You tricked me again, didn't you, mom!
Wait a minute! You said this was bananas!

Ok, I'll fall for it again....you said this is bananas?
Ok, not so bad!
Here, we are all taking a break.
His "N" and Funny Bunny help pass the time as well as segue for more food exploits.
Dad, where are the bananas?

Oh! Here they are!
Hmmm, I think I'll have one with some chocolate sauce, thank you..
What? You don't have any chocolate sauce?
What gives?
Well, that is ok, just pile them in...
No, Sage, that is not a banana!
Come on Dad, I know that...
I wish it was though!

Sage's House
We told ourselves that we would not be buying that many toys for Sage, especially at this age when he can't even distinguish between the toys themselves and the boxes they come in. So it was a surprise to use when we take a look at our house now and notice that it is quickly being transformed into Sage's play arena. Most of the toys came from friends and relatives, no doubt, and while we did buy a few things (off ebay) we did not expect it to be so much.
Anyway, Sage is covered where ever he is placed (he can not roam yet) and we have a healthy stock of toys and books.
So when Sage sits on the couch with us, he has a variety of things to choose from...
...and basically there is no room for Dad anywhere...
Someone does not seem to mind, tho..
Here sage is busy reading the latest edition of Kid's Daily
Yes, Sage, I am talking to you. Hey, now that I have your attention, do you want a snack?
Just pop it in there...
Mom, you are going too slow!
Hey, can you pass the red wine?
Alright, you don't have to get snitty....

Sage Eats His First Real Food
We are getting back in the swing of things here after our break back in the States for Xmas.
I have new classes that need prepping for, Jo has new stocks to buy and sell and Sage has hit the 6 month mark (Dec 30th), and has lots of foods to try.
Thus we have been trying to get him used to eating food in addition to mother's milk and it has been interesting. I am trying not to rush him, but am anxious for the day that both he and I will outvote Mom on getting pizza....but then again, her vote counts as 10 already anyway...sigh.
Anyway, we started him off on carrots and will move to congee as staples. Here are some pics to go along with the 'ordeal'.....
And away we go! Mom mushed up the carrots in the (very handy musher) tool that Auntie Jen gave us (THANX!) and we got off to a good start. Although to be fair, since he had never tried anything like this and tries to put anything in his mouth, he was up for anything....
Whoa! Holy smokes! What the hell is that?
Hmmm, wait a minute...it feels kinda.....gooey....I am used to that....
I may just like this thing....
you said it was 'carrot'?
Ok, pack another one on me baby...I mean mom...
Whoa! Holy smokes! What the hell is that?
...this reminds me of something....
Hmmm, wait a minute...it feels kinda.....gooey....I am used to that....
Great, now it is dad's turn....he prolly cant even find my mouth....
Oh! not too bad!
Gimme a bit more, will ya?
Yeah, I am getting the hang of it...
Ok, I am all decked out and in my new booster seat! This will be a breeze!
Whoa! Holy smokes! What the hell is that?!
So dad, you think that is funny? Why don't I see YOU eating this mush?
Mom is too sneaky! You popped it in when I was not ready!
Oh, this is tiring (and boring!)
Oh, wait! I take it back! I did NOT really open my mouth wide...
Damnit!
Ok, I'm not gunna open up anymore...
Nope
Nope
Well, I gotta cough - but don't try any funny business...
Yeah, ok, mom, I see you like it - so why don't YOU just eat it?
Yeah, mom still loves me (even though I only ate about 2 spoons....)
