An Old Fogey

Well, it happened, as it usually does around this time.

I got older. Not only that, but I got wiser, too. How about that?

For some reason, I have felt for the longest time that 40-50 would be my prime years. Dunno why I used to think that (since when I was younger 40 seemed sooooooo old) and only time will tell....

...but I think I am on the right track.

I have a super sexy and smart wife (alas, too smart....), I have a super cute and soon to be smarter than dad son, I love my work, and I love the fact that my life drifted in a way that I never thought possible from when I was in my 20's ( lord, 20 years ago....), and I am getting my creative urge again to make and do things.

So all is great and I indeed look forward to the next few years.

To celebrate, I got together with a small group of close friends (most with kids) and we had a good meal at TGIFridays (a place I have not been in about 5 years). The next day I spent the better part of the day hanging out playing some of my more time-intensive board games with some friends (I got the green light from my lovely wife)....

So a great way to mark the 'official' stage of Old-Fogeyism!

Now I prolly should start considering things like dentures, more frequent health check ups, senility and more, but hopefully I can pass on that for awhile....

Here's to at least 40 more years! Damn, they flew by....

Happy Birthday to ME!

Some Vids

I ran out of room at Dropshots, so I will delete some of the older vids to put up new ones occasionally. I will also keep putting shorter vids here, so enjoy.

Odds and Ends

Here are some recent pics we had fun taking

Kickin' back watching the ecard Gramma and Grampa sent (we watch that almost every day - that and now youtube vids of garbage trucks - I did not know there were so many kinds!)

Whaddya want? I'm busy here...

Can you find Sage?

There he is!

Comfy or having trouble getting up?

Tickle time

Nice shot

Good butt shot

I don't need no stinkin hands

I'm so cool, yo, yo

Me and my Poohs

Taking a stroll and found a branch

and another husky

and heck yeah - some rocks!

We even saw some birds

But the rocks were more interesting (he tried to carry 4 of them and kept dropping them every 2-3 feet and patiently kept picking them up, going another 2-3 feet, dropping one or two of them and redoing the whole process for about 15 minutes...)

Darn it, I'm determined here...

Hi

Hi, with Dad

Hi, with Mom

Ok, enough is enough - where are my rocks!?

Peek a Rock!

This one is of a much better vintage than the other one.

Ok, flowers are interesting, too, I guess

Especially if they are huge like these ones

Are you sure I can eat these dad?

Yeah, didn't think so...

Here comes trouble....(I will put up some vids of him being a rock climber later)

Likes to do this now as well.

Almost as tall as he is!

Admiring his work

Now the fun part!

Vids from Ao Wan Da National Park

Sage loved to climb up and down this drain....

Look out birdy, here I come!

Here is a better vantage point

Trip to Ao Wan Da National Park

This past weekend we went back to Ao Wan Da National Park, about 2 hours away in the mountains. This is one of my favorite spots to relax in, although bringing Sage we knew that 'relaxing' would take on other meanings.

So we headed out for a nice overnight stay at one of their wood cottages and it was pretty good. It rained a bit on the second day, but that was great since the fresh smell permeated everything and the fog and clouds made it great for some quick meditations between watching Sage....

And most importantly, Sage seemed to have a good time, chasing birds, walking all over the place, getting dirty and playing with water and leaves.... Ah, bliss....

Sage thought this was a ladder of sorts and loved to go up and down, putting little rocks and things in the drain as he went.

In front of the fake tree (but there were many other huge 'real' trees...)

Mr. Cutey

A pic from a field

Another Mr. Cutey shot

Dad showed Sage the lichen (actually picking it off) and Sage was very interested...

Quite interested

We were there awhile....

Mom got bored and went off to take other nicer pics...

Ah, she found us again..

Just hanging out

Sage was not that much into the flowers, except the ones you blow and the little stamens fly off

Mom got bored again...

Oh, hi mom!

Look at us!

Nope, only lasted a little bit...

Ah, some soccer practice

Where are the birds, Sage?

I thought I saw one over there...

Wow, this is cool

Let's put them on the bench and rub them off again (and again, and again...)

Ah, here are Dad and Sage relaxing with a movie...
